You've reached the tumble log of John Phillips. I'm a UI designer/developer residing in Metro Detroit. Here you will find posts on random thoughts/interests that I have and feel like sharing. I also blog here and make mixes that I post here.

A work break for music.

I was getting some work done the other day, and thought I’d take a quick break to mix up some tunes. I felt like listening to some Dilla production. Then I thought, might as well take it one step further and film it w/my iPhone.

It’s normal that I’m bouncing around this much, if not more, when I’m recording mixing for my Press Record site. So, I guess, this is sort of a behind the scenes video.

Second Act: Jay Shafer

Ten years ago, Jay Shafer downsized to an 89-square-foot house and reinvented both his lifestyle and career in the process.

Alexis and I struggle with the size of our house almost daily. Our modest house seems so overwhelming at times. We’re out and about in our city (walking, biking, shopping, etc) and don’t spend a whole lot of time actually in the house. There have been more than a few days where moving into a 89-square foot house seemed like a wonderful idea.

Check out Jay’s other house designs at his company’s website, Tumbleweed Houses.

I don’t know if I could downsize like this, but it’s pretty sweet.

There’s no way, with hindsight, I would’ve ever called up Larry, called up Magic and said, ‘Hey, look, let’s get together and play on one team,’
